Check Out My Latest Work

Through my work I visualize the things I have lost and things I will never experience. 03/05/2047 highlights the mounting anxiety I have about outliving my mom, reaching the age of forty-six, crossing an imaginary barrier that most take for granted. Both an homage to my personal grief and a memorial to my mother, the audience is encouraged to imprint their own understanding and processing onto the piece.

About the Artist

Grace Murray is from Hershey, Pennsylvania and is currently a senior studying both Studio Arts and Chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh. Interested in science since childhood, she developed intense curiosities for medicine, chemistry, and the human form. Only in high school did Grace find her interest in art and color, and now in college she looks to combine these two passions. Her primary medium is painting, though recent explorations have led to desires to introduce sculptural elements into her works. She has also used photography to capture the world around her. In addition to scientific topics, she explores themes of grief and loss following the passing of her parents. She uses her art as a form of therapy to process information and emotions and share them with others; she hopes to continue this practice as she grows as both an artist and individual.
